The Jorge M. Pérez Collection / El Espacio 23 Research Fellowship is an ongoing initiative dedicated to advancing scholarship related to the collection. The program supports focused inquiry into thematic frameworks, individual artists, specific mediums, and diverse areas of study represented within its holdings.

Through this platform, curators, scholars, and experts engage critically with the works, contributing new perspectives that expand dialogue across geographies, generations, and disciplines. Fellows produce essays, archival studies, and other scholarly contributions that deepen understanding of the works and their broader cultural contexts. These assessments generate new knowledge, provide rigorous critical analysis, and highlight areas for further exploration. By fostering sustained inquiry and exchange, the Fellowship reinforces the collection’s role as a dynamic site of interpretation and knowledge production.

Fellows are selected by the curatorial team in dialogue with the exhibition program, the context of Miami, the Jorge M. Pérez Collection, and partner institutions.
