Acrylic and enamel on canvas

In this work José Eduardo Yaque explores the origins of the colors of nature and the mineral conformation of the terrestrial strata through research with painting. The process begins with his investigations into the chemical compositions of pigments, advancing toward experimentation with earth, diverse types of rocks, and minerals. His pictorial technique involves mixing and applying colors to the canvas directly with his hands, in a sort of action painting wherein the artist’s own body intervenes, providing gestural traces through an almost ritualized process. Subsequently, the piece is covered with a plastic membrane, which is removed after drying to leave the look of an eroded painting, transmuted into abstract and terrestrial landscapes based on discontinuous lines. The titles of these works refer to the names of minerals or rocks the artist has analyzed
