As El Espacio 23 celebrates its fifth anniversary, we reflect on the vision and dedication of founder Jorge M. Pérez, whose commitment to the arts and philanthropy has shaped the gallery into one of Miami’s premier contemporary art spaces. Located in a reimagined 28,000-square-foot warehouse in Allapattah, El Espacio 23 has become a vibrant hub for exhibitions, artist residencies, and community engagement.
Over the past five years, El Espacio 23 has hosted notable exhibitions such as A Time for Change, Witness, You Know Who You Are, To Weave the Sky, and Mirror of the Mind, each reflecting diverse themes that resonate with today’s global conversations. The gallery has also welcomed a range of artists in residence, including La Chola, Moris, Carlos Motta, Panmela Castro, Manuel Chavajay, Keisha Scarville, Karina Peisajovich, Juan Carlos Alom, Marcelo Brodsky, Fernando Bryce, and several others, providing them with the space and resources to create meaningful work.
As El Espacio 23 looks ahead, it remains a testament to Pérez’s vision—a space where art, community, and social change intersect. Here’s to five years of inspiring creativity, and to many more ahead.
